NAUGHTY LADIES OF BEERTOWN
WALKING TOUR
Presented by Historic Milwaukee, Inc.
Sponsored by Henak Law Office, S.C.
Friday September 14, 2007
7:00PM-9:00PM
$15 each; space is limited
Meet at the east entrance to the Milwaukee Center off of Water Street, ˝ block
North of Wells Street (i.e., from the Pabst Theater) in Downtown Milwaukee.
The River District, in the shadow of City Hall, once had the reputation of being
the home of the “oldest profession.” Follow in the footsteps of the customers,
“sports” who frequented the establishment of Miss Kitty Williams and the rest of
the “madams” who ran these houses of “sin” until 1912. With the help of a few
jolly “boarders”, Mayor David “All the Time Rosy” Rose might nearly convince you
of his point of view as he and Miss Kitty Williams escort you past what were
once the establishments of Milwaukee’s famous madams… that is until Meta Berger
gives her soapbox oration on the socialist movement in Milwaukee.
After the tour enjoy lemonade and gin (or coffee and brandy if the weather is cool) and Oreo cookies, Miss Kitty William’s favorite treat, while you mingle with this raucous group of Milwaukee’s 19th and early 20th century characters.
All attendees will receive The Sporting and Club House Guide to Milwaukee and a map indicating the locations of famous establishments.
In case of inclement weather, the "tour" will take place in the Village Church, 130 East Juneau Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53202.
